
Dr. Karki has been awarded the NSF CAREER Award on his project entitled, "Rheology of materials of
Earth's mantle: High-end computational/visualization research and education." This is the National
Science Foundation's most prestigious award for new faculty members. Dr. Karki, a graduate scholar
from the University of Edinburgh, joined the department of Computer Science at LSU in Spring 2003.
He is a leading scientist in high-end computation and visualization for fundamental materials
problems of Earth Science applications. He has already published more than 25 journal papers
in this area.
