We are pleased to report the recognition of our students and faculty at the Honors Convocation that was held on Monday, March 15, 2004 at 4:30 p.m.at Lod Cook Alumni Center. Congratulations to all the students and the faculty for their wonderful accomplishments.

We want to thank Coretta Douglas, Vera Watkins, and the committee for doing an excellent job in preparing for this Convocation. Thank you.

1. Dr. Carver, Professor of the Department of Computer Science, and Associate Vice-Chancellor of Research and Graduate Studies, spoke eloquently on the need for undergraduate research in universities. Her theme was research and teaching were inseparable and was conveyed to all the honor students in attendance.
   
   
2. Dr. John Tyler, Professor of the Department of Computer Science, was recognized with the 2004 College of Basic Sciences Graduate Teaching Award. This is a very prestigious and well deserved for Dr. Tyler towards his contribution towards research, teaching, and entrepreneurship at LSU.
   
   
3. The College of Basic Sciences awarded one of our students Ankit Tandon the 2004 Dr. Greg Hussey's Undergraduate Student Award.
