The Department of Computer Science (
http://www.csc.lsu.edu ), in partnership with
the Center for Computation & Technology (
CCT;www.cct.lsu.edu ) at Louisiana State
University (LSU) invites applications for one or more anticipated tenure-track
positions starting Fall 2005. While we anticipate filling the position(s) at the
level of Assistant Professor, we welcome applicants at all levels. A successful
candidate will have research interests in Grid and/or distributed computing and will be
contributing to a research program leading to the deployment of diverse applications
on production computational grids (i.e. grid toolkits, data and resource management,
security, scheduling, scientific workflow etc.). The successful applicant(s) will be
expected to establish a strong, well-funded, widely recognized research program, and
achieve excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The
Department of Computer Science values interdisciplinary research with impact and
visibility beyond computer science.
The CCT, directed by Dr. Edward Seidel, has a permanent budget of $9 million/yr
from the state and a mission to enhance information technology efforts at LSU.
Faculty activities are expected to support and to be highly integrated into the
complimentary goals of the Department of Computer Science and the CCT. To enhance
these activities, the CCT has developed an active visitor program, a fellowship
program and a diverse technology infrastructure. Additionally, in the spring 2005
LSU will be connected to the LONI (Louisiana Optical Network Initiative) high speed
network. LONI, funded by a $40M commitment from the state, will provide a 40 Gbps
connection between new large scale computing resources deployed at Louisiana research
institutes. LSU will also be connected to the National Lambda Rail in spring 2005,
providing national and international high speed connectivity.
Application reviews will begin February 15, 2005, and will continue until
candidates are selected.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
