(Tenure-track/One or more positions)

Department of Computer Science/Center for Computation and Technology (CCT)

The Department of Computer Science ( http://www.csc.lsu.edu ), in partnership with the Center for Computation & Technology ( CCT;www.cct.lsu.edu ) at Louisiana State University (LSU) invites applications for one or more anticipated tenure-track positions starting Fall 2005. While we anticipate filling the position(s) at the level of Assistant Professor, we welcome applicants at all levels. A successful candidate will have research interests in Grid and/or distributed computing and will be contributing to a research program leading to the deployment of diverse applications on production computational grids (i.e. grid toolkits, data and resource management, security, scheduling, scientific workflow etc.). The successful applicant(s) will be expected to establish a strong, well-funded, widely recognized research program, and achieve excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department of Computer Science values interdisciplinary research with impact and visibility beyond computer science.

The CCT, directed by Dr. Edward Seidel, has a permanent budget of $9 million/yr from the state and a mission to enhance information technology efforts at LSU. Faculty activities are expected to support and to be highly integrated into the complimentary goals of the Department of Computer Science and the CCT. To enhance these activities, the CCT has developed an active visitor program, a fellowship program and a diverse technology infrastructure. Additionally, in the spring 2005 LSU will be connected to the LONI (Louisiana Optical Network Initiative) high speed network. LONI, funded by a $40M commitment from the state, will provide a 40 Gbps connection between new large scale computing resources deployed at Louisiana research institutes. LSU will also be connected to the National Lambda Rail in spring 2005, providing national and international high speed connectivity.

Application reviews will begin February 15, 2005, and will continue until candidates are selected.
