Programming and Documentation Standards

The minimal standards for programs assigned in this course are:
  1. The program must be the work of the individual student, not the result of a plagiarism. This disallows, but is not limited to restrictions of, code sharing and uncited published procedures and programs.
  2. The program must contain comments giving student name, the course number, section number and assignment name or number as part of the heading remarks.
  3. The programming style must not be abysmal.
  4. All programming requirements, as set forth in the assignments or lectures, must be met, including the format and correctness of the output.
  5. The program must be free of error messages.
  6. The program must be coded in Java.

Violation of the first of these standards will result in initiation of university-sanctioned procedures concerning cheating. Violation of any of the five remaining standards will result in the program being returned ungraded.

Half of the points for a particular assignment will be given for meeting the minimal standards; the remaining points depend upon style and documentation.
