Requirements

Examinations

There are three examinations scheduled for the course. Two are to be administered during the semester in standard lecture sessions; the third is a comprehensive two-hour final examination administered on Thursday the 26$^{th}$ of July from 7.30-9.30 am (arghh!). All exams will be closed book and notes.

If a student misses one of regular semester exams, he/she may be allowed at the lecturer's discretion to use the final examination at a higher percentage (weighting) to cover the missed exam. In no case will the student be allowed to make up both semester examinations. In all circumstances where an exam is missed, a verifiable medical excuse is required for any consideration from the lecturer.

Programming Projects

There will be a number of individual programming assignments, each to be coded in Java.

All programming assignments must meet all the criteria set forth in the ``Programming and Documentation Standards'' section.

All assignments will have due dates; work turned in past the due dates will be not be accepted, resulting in a mark of 0.

It is important to emphasize that all work presented in partial fulfilment of the course requirements must be the work of the individual student; there are no group projects. Read the Computer Science Department Policy regarding Academic Dishonesty. All cases of plagiarism or collaboration on assignments or examinations will be treated as academic dishonesty.

The final grade will be based on the following:

25%
Programming Assignments
25%
Semester Examination I
25%
Semester Examination II
25%
Final Examination
under the following scale:

90-100% A 80-89.99% B 70-79.99% C 60-69.99% D below 60% F
