Biography

Professor Xian-He Sun

received the B.S. degree in mathematics from Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China, the M.S. degree in mathematics and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Michigan State University. After graduating from Michigan State, he joined the Ames Laboratory, operated for the Department of Energy by Iowa State University. He was a staff scientist at ICASE, NASA Langley Research Center in 1992 and 1993. Since January 1994, he has been with the Department of Computer Science, Louisiana State University. His research interests include parallel and distributed processing, software systems, performance evaluation, and scientific computing.

Dr. Sun is an associate professor and the director of the Scalable Computing Software (SCS) Laboratory at LSU. His research has beeing supported by National Science Foundation (NSF), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Department Of Energy (DOE), European Commission, Louisiana Education Quality Support Fund (LEQSF), University Space Research Association (USRA), Navy-ASEE (American Society for Enginering Education), and LSU-Council On Research (COR). He is a guest editor for Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing and Journal of Supercomputing , and is on the editorial board of Journal of Performance Evaluation and Modeling for Computer Systems. He is a senior member of IEEE, a member of ACM, New York Academy of Science, PHI KAPPA PHI, a partner of the Esprit IV APART (Automatic Performance Analysis: Resources and Tools) working group (No. 29488), and has served as the chairman or on the program committee for a number of international conferences and workshops. He is featured in the 1997 edition of International Who's Who in Professionals.
